The lessons of a lifetime
of playing the organ and piano

Dr. Jensen’s new book is an in-depth study of natural physical gestures and musical freedom at the keyboard illustrated by Dr. Jensen with streaming videos and detailed descriptions of the physical movements and their inherent value in musical accomplishment. She was influenced by the works of renowned piano pedagogues, Tobias Matthay and Dorothy Taubman, who were preeminent in their understanding of how the hands and entire body function naturally in building keyboard technique. Throughout her long and successful career, Dr. Jensen adapted concepts to the organ that were originally developed for the piano. Organ Footnotes contains a full compilation of her expansive concepts of traditional organ methods to help keyboardists unlock their own freedom of movement through natural physical gestures and with various types of touches at the keyboard. It further explores musical freedom through informed performance practice within various periods of musical history and includes easy-to-apply suggestions for the application of each concept while practicing. Dr. Jensen’s techniques will help keyboardists learn new repertoire more quickly, accurately, and musically. The streaming video links included with the book will show Dr. Jensen up close demonstrating her technical and musical suggestions.
