Compelling Recitals

“For nearly 30 years it’s been my pleasure to hear Wilma Jensen in concert throughout the United States and in Europe. On every occasion whether in the largest cathedral or smallest parish church I’ve been awed by her artistry. She has a special gift for registration which coupled with her prodigious technique allows her to create exciting and compelling performances.”

“Her playing had a spiritual intensity which seemed to illuminate the works from within.”

Wilma Jensen in concert

One of Wilma Jensen’s most notable recent recitals was at the 2018 National Convention of the Organ Historical Society in Rochester, New York. Performed on the Austin 1956 organ (revised by Austin with additions in 1967) at Asbury First United Methodist Church, the program included compositions by Michael McCabe, Philip James, Charles Tournemire, David Briggs (commissioned by Wilma Jensen), and Connie Ellisor. Renowned dulcimer player Stephen Seifert was soloist in Ellisor’s Blackberry Winter concerto with the orchestral score transcribed for organ by Wilma Jensen. Registrant for the Ellisor composition was ESM student, Käthe Wright Kaufman.
